The GD10 is a portable SSD that offers not only high data transfer rates but also strong data security. It features a touchscreen, and if lost, the SSD can be tracked via Apple Find My. No software is required for encryption.
As part of a crowdfunding campaign, the Movespeed GD10 is being funded, an external SSD . This SSD features encryption. The advantage is that the encryption is handled directly on the device, allowing use without special software. The device also advertises, for example, the ability to save ProRes recordings with an iPhone. The SSD is locked and unlocked by entering the password on the touchscreen. At 1.83 inches, the screen is as large as a larger smartwatch and can display the SSD’s temperature.
There’s a fairly large button built in, which can be used to quickly reactivate the encryption – for example, if you briefly leave your workstation. The casing is made of a zinc alloy, which should provide a certain degree of resistance to damage caused by drops. The SSD’s maximum data transfer rate is specified as 1,050 MB/s, which should allow even large amounts of data to be transferred quickly. USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C is available, and the capacity is up to two terabytes. The 71 x 63 x 20 millimeter storage device weighs 168 grams and, according to the manufacturer, is compatible with Apple Find My, so it should be easier to find if lost. The device features a useless switch and a dial, which is intended to reduce stress to a certain extent.
On Kickstarter, backers are currently promised an SSD for a pledge of €151, which will then provide customers with the system with a capacity of one terabyte. Delivery is scheduled to begin in February 2025, so potential backers should be fully aware of the financial risks of such crowdfunding campaigns.
